In the wake of the ghastly murder of three Bihar migrant workers in Bengaluru, the Nitish government has moved fast to help the bereaved families. The state Labour Resources Department has ensured that the three victims' bodies are being returned to their villages. Labour Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh himself traveled down to Patna Airport on Tuesday morning to accept the bodies, along with officials. He promised compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each for the families of the victims under the Migrant Accident Scheme.
The gruesome accident occurred in Bengaluru's Sarjapur area, where the three victims—Radheshyam Yadav, Anshu Ram, and Deepu Kumar Sah—were plumbers. The three were from Bihar's Gopalganj district, specifically villages Pithauri and Mathgautam. The victims were aged between 20 to 23 years and had come to Bengaluru six months ago in search of work.
Reports say that the fight happened during Holi celebrations. The three men had a minor dispute, which soon turned into a violent brawl with bloodshed. They were clubbed to death by their perpetrators, who were said to use iron rods.
Early reports indicate that the battle began over a phone call. Reports indicate that one of the victims had picked up by accident a call meant for the sister of one of the suspects. This seemingly trivial incident led to an argument that spiralled into a deadly assault.
Bengaluru Police immediately informed the incident to the Gopalganj authorities, who filed an FIR and initiated an inquiry into the case. Post-mortem rituals were done after examination, and the bodies were sent back to Bihar for their last rites.
