According to the latest information, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road and Transport, received a death threat through a phone call at his Delhi residence on Monday. The event was quickly reported by the minister’s office to the Delhi Police, who have now started an investigation. This information was made public on Tuesday by reliable sources, underscoring how dire the situation is. As authorities try to locate and capture the person who made the threat, the minister’s safety and security will come first.

The first call in the case, according to police officials, was made on January 14 to the landline number at the residence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur by Jayesh Pujari, also known as Kantha, who demanded Rs 100 crore from Gadkari and claimed to be a member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang. On March 21, he made a second call requesting Rs 10 crore.

On March 28, after police had used the strict Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), he was arrested and transported to Nagpur. A third threat call was received this month despite the fact that he is in jail. The officials also revealed that he received weapons training from ultras in the country’s north-eastern region, according to a police investigation, which led the Ministry of Home Affairs to ask the NIA to launch an investigation, the official said. He also had connections to Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives.

Reportedly, an NIA team led by an officer with the rank of deputy inspector general has arrived in Nagpur. The case files for the two offences that were reported to the Dhantoli police station are now in the possession of the NIA team. The investigation by the officials is still underway.
