New Delhi: In a disturbing turn of events, a 28-year-old man in Durg, Chhattisgarh, resorted to extortion after failing in his civil service aspirations. Vinay Kumar Sahu, having unsuccessfully attempted the PSC examination multiple times, turned to theft in his local vegetable market area. His criminal activities escalated when he targeted a house in Ahiwara, Durg, recording a private video of the homeowners during intimate moments.Whats full matter Sahu, who had previously stolen from the same house twice, saw an opportunity during his third break-in. He covertly recorded a video using a stolen mobile phone and later attempted to extort Rs 10 lakh from the couple. Threatening to make the video viral if his demands were not met, Sahu sent the video via WhatsApp to the couple.Couple filed complaint Shocked and fearing blackmail, the couple immediately filed a complaint with the police, detailing the extortion attempt and providing the number from which the video and ransom call originated.Police action in this matter Upon receiving the complaint, the police swiftly launched a special investigation team, with the cyber cell tracking the mobile number used by Sahu. Within a short time, the police apprehended Sahu while he was still using the same mobile phone and number. Alongside his arrest, authorities seized three stolen mobile phones and SIM cards from him.
