News Delhi: Neet scams have been a controversial issue ever since they became public information. Students and administration have been raising their voices on the issue, many even demanding the conviction of Dharmendra Pradhan and more. Everything seemed fine until the evening of June 27 in Delhi, when students and members of the Indian Youth Congress were protesting on the same day. The Delhi Police detained and lathi-charged leaders of members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) when they were demonstrating outside the Parliament against the anomalies in the nation's premier exams, NEET-UG and UGC-NET.

After the demonstrators fought the police and destroyed barriers, they were taken into custody. BV Srinivas, the national president of the Indian Youth Congress, was among the injured politicians. Bhaskar Chakravorty of Top Indian News had an exhaustive conversation with BV Srinivas, who answered a few key questions.

Indian Youth Congress students were Lathi charged today in Delhi. What are your immediate thoughts?

The ruling government is trying to save shrewd criminals and keep them away from people's eyes. The silence of the BJP says a lot about the people and their unlawful ways. We won't stop raising our voices until the right thing prevails. The lathi charge against students that happened is unlawful, as the center is using the police as a tool to defend the sham that they are promoting. The government is scared and that's why they are taking such actions.

Were you in the crowds when the police were lathi-charging the students and members of IYC?

Indeed, I was in the crowd when this happened, as I too was affected by it. I was also hit by the gruesome strikes of force. Our voices were tried to be silenced with force.  One harsh hit tore my muscles. I took syringe shots and got plastered later.

What's your take on the NEET scam?

All we want is for every student to deserve a re-exam after the shameful scam that happened. We also demand the resignation of Dharmendra Praddhan and there must be strict action to be taken. We also raise a question to PM Narendra Modi to make a statement on the happenings. Now that the opposition seems to be in powerful and questioning positions, Congress won't let the BJP suppress the voice of anyone.

What do you say about the updates and happenings of the scam and the actions of the government?

The government is using all these tactics and leaking papers, not thinking of the youth in reality. Well, students will get seats with power and money but what of the poor class? What about the children from small towns or farmers' children and how do such incidents hinder their chances?

What's your next plan of action after this incident in retrospect, Indian Youth Congress?

We will fight till justice is handed over to the child until re-exams take place and after Dharmendra Prasad's resignation. We will fight for the truth under the leadership of Rahul Ji and fight corruption alongside him. We and Rahul have never stopped protecting the Constitution and will continue to do so. Leader of Opposition is being introduced in parliament recently with Rahul Gandhi after years. Share your plight on how the youth should look at this. Rahul Ji has been an inspiration to millions and a great leader. On his recent Nyay Jodo Yatra, he met many students who told him of the paper leak problems. The India Bloc's manifesto even mentioned a strict paper leak law to prevent such happenings ever again and we are adamant on the thought that schemes like Agniveer should also be shunned.

What's your message for the country and the youth?

The country's citizens should raise their voices in this case, irrespective of their involvement in the riot, to question this deaf, blind government and to keep up the fight.

What's your final message and motto?

Look at the level at which the government has stooped, including the lathi charge; on their side, no major charges have been taken against the convicts. This is a high time when, on whatever platform, the youth and citizens are raising voices against the wrongdoings of the BJP.
