MP Dalit woman assaulted by police: In a disturbing incident which has come to light from Burhanpur district, Madhya Pradesh, where Seema, a Dalit woman and scrap dealer, claims she was subjected to brutal treatment by Nimbola Police following allegations of theft. The reported abuse has left Seema with severe bruises, raising urgent concerns over the excessive force allegedly used by authorities.

'You can check my entire house'

Accused of stealing a gold chain, Seema denies the charges, asserting that she is being unfairly targeted. "They accused me of stealing. But I did not steal, you can check my entire house. There is nothing," she said, maintaining her innocence. "You can investigate everyone I know. I have not committed any theft. They are forcefully imposing these charges against me."

Threatened me not to tell anyone 

Recounting the ordeal, Seema described being beaten until she lost consciousness. She shared that the police warned her against speaking out, threatening to detain her husband and children if she disclosed the abuse. "They beat me so much that I dropped unconscious," Seema explained.

"They took me for a medical check-up but instructed the accompanying woman not to tell anyone. They told me not to speak about this to anyone, so I quietly went back home," she added.

In addition to the alleged intimidation, Seema said police directed her to avoid government medical facilities, suggesting she get checked privately. She added, "A female officer, Puja, was involved in beating me. They accused me of stealing a gold chain. I live in Burhanpur."

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious questions about police treatment of Dalit individuals, particularly under the current administration, with many calling for accountability and justice.
