In contrast to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which witnessed a contest between the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the upcoming elections are anticipated to be fiercely contested in the nation's capital as the BJP faces a united opposition this time around in the form of the INDIA bloc. According to the two parties' seat-sharing agreement, AAP will run for four seats and Congress for three.

Here are 7 key battles on the battlefield in Delhi this election year:

BJP Manoj Tiwari vs. Who? North East Delhi - Following the announcement of Kanhaiya Kumar as the Congress' nominee, this constituency attracted the greatest attention. The two-time MP, Manoj Tiwari, will compete against the former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU). Voters from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh predominate in this seat. Tiwari beat Sheila Dikshit, the previous chief minister, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Praveen Khandelwal vs Jai Parkash Agarwal: Chandni Chowk - There are eleven assembly segments in this prominent location. Currently representing Chandni Chowk is Harsh Vardhan of the BJP, who has already declared his retirement from public office. Praveen Khandelwal has been fielded by the saffron party for this seat. Jai Parkash Agarwal, who defeated Chandni Chowk in 1984 and 1989, has been put forward by the Congress. In 2009, he had been an MP from North East Delhi before.

Yogendra Chandolia vs Udit Raj: North West Delhi - After delimitation, this constituency was established in 2008. Currently represented by singer Hans Raj Hans, North West Delhi is reserved for scheduled castes. Yogendra Chandolia, the former mayor of North MCD, is the candidate put out by the BJP for this election. He is going up against Udit Raj, a Congress candidate who was victorious in 2014 while running on a BJP platform.

Somnath Bharti vs Bansuri Swaraj: New Delhi - Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister who is currently incarcerated, is an MLA for New Delhi, one of the ten assembly seats that make up the New Delhi constituency. Two times, in 2014 and 2019, union minister Meenakshi Lekhi defeated Ashish Khetan of the AAP and Ajay Maken of the Cong to win this seat. But this time, the BJP has put up Bansuri Swaraj, who will go up against Somnath Bharti, the three-time MLA for the AAP.

Kuldeep Kumar vs Harsh Malhotra: East Delhi - Harsh Malhotra, a former mayor of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, is the BJP's contender in this election. Following the withdrawal of the sitting MP, Gautam Gambhir, the BJP substituted a new candidate. Malhotra will take on Kuldeep Kumar of the AAP.

Sahi Ram Pehalwan vs  Ramvir Singh Bidhuri: South Delhi - Ramesh Bidhuri of the BJP, Vijender Singh of the Congress, and Raghav Chadha of the AAP fought in a triangular fashion for this seat. In place of Bidhuri, who was also well-known for his contentious remarks, the saffron camp chose to run Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly. The AAP's Sahi Ram Pehelwan, an MLA from the Tuglakabad constituency, will compete against the BJP leader.

Mahabal Mishra vs Kamaljeet Sehrawat: West Delhi - The BJP opted to run former south Delhi mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat in this seat instead of its two-time MP Pravesh Verma. Mahabal Mishra of the Aam Aadmi Party, who prevailed in 2009 as a Congress candidate, will compete against Sehrawat.

The sixth phase of the elections in Delhi is set for May 25. Voter tallying is expected to take place on June 4. It is anticipated that 1.47 crore eligible voters—about 80 lakh men and 67 lakh women—will cast ballots in the nation's capital to choose their representatives to parliament. West Delhi has 24.9 lakh voters, making it the largest constituency among the seven seats, whereas New Delhi has 14.8 lakh votes.
