The Septa: In a press conference held on Sunday, senior leaders of the Congress party leveled serious accusations against the central government, just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, alleged that the party's accounts have been frozen, leading to significant difficulties. They claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has amassed large sums of money themselves, and freezing the Congress accounts is a strategic move on their part.

1. No one addressing the matter

Rahul Gandhi emphasized during the press briefing that freezing the accounts of an ordinary family would lead to starvation. He likened the situation to what Congress is currently facing, highlighting that no institution, court, or the Election Commission of India has addressed the matter.

2. Congress represents 20 per cent Indian population

Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi pointed out that while the Congress represents about 20 percent of the Indian population, they are now unable to conduct basic functions such as purchasing railway tickets or placing advertisements.

3. Misusing financial watchdogs

He highlighted a specific case where a Rs 14 lakh issue from seven years ago has resulted in a staggering fine of Rs 200 crore, far exceeding the permissible limits according to Income Tax rules.

4. Importance of fair elections

Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the importance of fair elections for democracy, stressing that all political parties must have a level playing field. He criticized the perceived monopoly of resources by those in power and their influence over key institutions.

5. BJP freezing funds

Speaking on the issue of electoral bonds, Kharge highlighted the BJP's significant financial advantage due to the alleged illegal funding scheme, while the Congress finds itself handicapped by frozen accounts.

6. Sonia Gandhi's perspective

Sonia Gandhi expressed deep concerns about the broader implications of the situation, stating that it not only affects the Congress but also undermines democracy itself. She accused the Prime Minister of orchestrating a conspiracy to weaken the Congress economically, describing the current circumstances as unprecedentedly undemocratic.

7. Pappu Yadav joins Congress

Former National President of Congress Rahul Gandhi received praise from Pappu Yadav, who expressed solidarity with the party and its leadership. Yadav vowed to continue Rahul Gandhi's fight and uphold the values of the Congress party, emphasizing its historical significance in Indian politics.
