New Delhi: The government presented the data for the NIA in the Lok Sabha. According to the data, the NIA has registered over 640 cases since its formation and has maintained a conviction rate of 95.23% in 147 cases.The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs said in Parliament that the government has allotted over 51 special courts across the country to speed up the trials and many special courts have been set up Ranchi and Jammu to solve the cases.The agency also covers crime cases like human trafficking, cyber crime and Arms Act etc. The headquarters of this agency is in Delhi and has two zonal offices in Guwahati and Jammu with 21 branch offices. Over 13 branch offices and two zonal offices have been allotted. The funding for the agency also witnessed a decent hike over the last few years.The funds begin from Rs 12.09 crores in 2009-2010 and increased to 394.66 in the fiscal year 2024-2025. Special divisions have also been set up to curb human trafficking, illegal activities and terror fundings etc. The agency has also involved itself in joint working groups on counter-terrorism with 26 countries. However with the help if collaborations, the agency has brought itself to par with global standards, comparing its capacities with those of leading agencies in the world to effectively prevent, investigate, and prosecute crimes against national security.
