The Noida police has taken stringent steps against Mahindra Thar driver, Prince Mavi accused of reckless driving, slapping him with a fine of Rs 35,000 for intentionally hindering pedestrian's way with his erratic stunts.
The Noida police took cognizance of the matter after a video featuring the vehicle went viral on social video. In the viral video, he is seen driving the Thar on the street near Amity University and stopping it abruptly in front of pedestrians, especially girls, leaving them shell-shocked. Such unpredictable acts of the driver went viral, drawing criticism and demand for action against the provocateur.
Noticing the man's actions, the concerned authorities considered the matter and arrested the man. An FIR was registered at the local Sector-126 police station and an investigation was initiated. The accused, Prince Mavi, a resident of Hari Nagar Extension Part-2 in Delhi was arrested. The vehicle has been confiscated. Police have also imposed a hefty penalty of Rs 35,000 for violating multiple rules of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The police specified that the driver has been held responsible for a wide range of violations including the use of tinted glasses, faulty number plates with casteist mentions, rash driving, violation of prescribed levels of air pollution and so on. The Motors Vehicle Act lays down rules and regulations on all aspects of road transport and the driver has been arrested under the same.
While some of the netizens hailed the Noida police's prompt action others demanded a stricter punishment for such individuals who intentionally try to obstruct pedestrians' path through their stunts and rash driving.
