National News: Just before the beginning of the Amarnath Yatra, a heartbreaking news has come out from Pahalgam, a quiet and picturesque tourist destination of Jammu and Kashmir. On Tuesday, the terrorists fired indiscriminately, targeting a group of tourists, killing one tourist tragically and 12 others were seriously injured.
According to the police, the terrorist attack took place at Basarn Maidan located in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district when a large number of tourists were enjoying natural beauty. "My husband is shot in the head of my husband," a woman tourist told the news agency PTI. The woman did not reveal her identity, but this appeal describes the horrors of the whole incident.
On hearing the sound of bullets, the security forces reached the spot and surrounded the entire area and started a search operation. Security forces have taken positions in the hilly areas of Basaron and the search for terrorists has been intensified. The injured have been admitted to hospitals for first aid, some of whom are stated to be critical.
Amarnath Yatra will start from July 3 this year. In such a situation, targeting tourists exactly before this makes a clear point towards the terrorist plans. Security agencies feared that the terrorists are plotting to influence the Amarnath Yatra through this attack.
PDP President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti have reacted sharply to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. She said, "I condemn this cowardly terrorist attack in strong words. To target tourists is not only an inhuman act, but it is also an attack on the tradition of Kashmir that welcomes the guests with an open heart. Such violence is not only condemnable, but very worrying. This incident is going to tarnish the image of the state and it cannot be accepted in any case."
Currently, the situation in the area is under control and a wide search operation is being carried out by the security forces to arrest the terrorists. It is not yet clear how many terrorists carried out this attack and which organization they are associated with.
