Terrific! 40 baby snakes found in Meerut home's washroom; Residents shocked

In a shocking incident, 40 baby snakes were found in a house in Saraswati Lok Colony located Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The incident came into the limelight after Jagjit Singh, who lived in the house with his wife and children, informed the forest department about the same. To understand whether these snakes were poisonous or not the DFO and wildlife experts carried out tests to identify its species. The reports revealed that these were water snakes. 

Spotted baby snakes

While Jagjit was away from his house, his wife and children were there when the snakes were first spotted. Later they threw those baby snakes but were horrified after they saw them again the next day. After spotting the snakes for consecutive days, the family informed the neighbours about the same. 

Snakes rescued 

As soon as the information reached the forest department, SDO Anshu Chawla reached out to her team. The team spotted the baby snakes in the washroom and were rescued by them. 

Species revealed

These snakes belong to the Checkered Keelback Water species, according to DFO Rajesh Kumar. Along with the babies, a large snake has also been discovered. He added that these are mostly found in wells, gardens, and paddy fields with irrigation supplies. Water pipes in the kitchen or bathroom allow them to enter the homes. They are aggressive, even though they are not harmful. 

People from the neighbourhood flocked to witness so many young snakes. People were first in a panic. However, they exhaled in relief when the forest department experts verified that they were not poisonous.
