Tensions continue to rise in Gujarat following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement on Hindus in the Lok Sabha. Bajrang Dal activists launched an attack on the Congress office at night, prompting an open challenge and retaliation from Congress. By evening, BJP Yuva Morcha workers had gathered at Rajiv Bhavan in Ahmedabad, where slogans were exchanged between Congress and BJP workers under police supervision.

This exchange quickly escalated into clashes, with some stones being thrown towards the Congress office. The confrontations occurred while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was addressing the Lok Sabha, leading to the detention of several activists by Ahmedabad police. Deputy SP Shivam Verma stated that an investigation is underway to determine the source of the stones.

Intensifying Controversy Over Hindutva Statement

The controversy over Rahul Gandhi's statement on Hinduism has intensified in Gujarat. After Bajrang Dal activists stormed the Gujarat Congress headquarters early in the morning, BJP and Congress workers came face-to-face, leading to further clashes. The situation escalated when BJP Yuva Morcha workers arrived at the scene, resulting in heated confrontations.

Congress Workers Rally in Protest

As BJP Yuva Morcha workers reached the Congress office in Ahmedabad, Congress leaders quickly gathered, creating a tense atmosphere. Slogans were exchanged from both sides, with BJP workers targeting Rahul Gandhi, while Congress supporters chanted anti-BJP slogans. The situation deteriorated when police asked BJP workers to step back, leading to clashes between the two groups.

BJP's Protest in Vadodara

Following Bajrang Dal's protest, BJP mobilised against Congress at other district headquarters. In Vadodara, BJP Yuva Morcha officials protested against Rahul Gandhi's statement on Hindus, accusing Congress of being anti-Hindu. The statewide protest saw BJP Yuva Morcha taking a stand against Congress, while Bajrang Dal activists were accused of defacing the Congress office in Ahmedabad. Congress filed a complaint at the Ellisbridge police station against the Bajrang Dal activists involved.

Congress's Counter-Protest

In response to the Bajrang Dal attack, Congress leaders launched their own protest at the state office. Standing on the steps of Rajiv Bhavan, Congress leaders, including chief spokesperson Dr Manish Doshi, shouted slogans against BJP. The clashes between Congress and BJP workers in Ahmedabad coincided with police preparations for the historic Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra, adding to the challenges faced by law enforcement. The confrontation between the two parties' workers has heightened tensions in the city.
