New Delhi: A viral video has emerged showing a heated verbal altercation between BJP candidate Anoop Dhanak and disgruntled villagers in Sandlana village of Haryana. The video, which captures angry villagers confronting Dhanak, also reveals the use of abusive language directed at him. This incident occurred in the presence of senior party leaders, none of whom intervened. The confrontation appears to be the result of rising discontent among the local population towards the candidate.

BJP faces internal struggles

The dissatisfaction with Anoop Dhanak’s candidacy is not an isolated case, as the BJP has been grappling with internal discord over ticket distribution, earlier this week. In the Uklana constituency, workers openly opposed Dhanak’s candidacy, with some raising slogans of "Murdabad" during a meeting he held at Agrawal Seva Sadan. Villagers from Nagthala, Khairi, and Sandlana expressed their outrage, accusing Dhanak of focusing on self-gain during his tenure as a minister in the coalition government, rather than the development of Uklana.

Ami Singh Bithamada, a BJP worker, voiced the frustration of many, stating that long-serving party members were overlooked in favor of someone "who indulged in corruption." The opposition towards Dhanak's candidacy has escalated to the point where protests are being organized at various levels.

Rebellion in Hisar

Meanwhile, in Hisar, similar discontent is brewing. Family members of former minister Professor Chhattarpal Singh tore down BJP hoardings and posters, announcing that they would contest the elections as independents. Chhattarpal’s family criticized the party’s decision not to give him a ticket, claiming that he was the rightful candidate for the Barwala assembly seat.

Moreover, BJP Minority Front's state general secretary Subhash Jain resigned in protest over the ticket distribution, adding to the party’s woes.

Conflict over poster photos

Further fueling tensions, BJP candidate Dr. Kamal Gupta caused controversy by using photos of former minister Savitri Jindal and outgoing mayor Gautam Sardana on his nomination posters without their consent. Sardana has voiced his displeasure, hinting at his possible opposition to Gupta’s candidacy and even considering contesting the election himself.
