New Delhi: In a significant move to combat the misuse of habit-forming medications, the Telangana Chemists & Druggists Association (TSCDA) has announced a new policy requiring patients to present fresh prescriptions for such drugs. The TSCDAs latest directive mandates that all chemists in Telangana must refuse to fill prescriptions for habit-forming drugs that are not current.This decision emphasises on the associations commitment to reducing the misuse of these potentially addictive substances. According to R. Srinivas, the President of TSCDA, “Patients need to understand the importance of getting fresh prescriptions from registered doctors.” He further stated, “Our chemists will not be pressured into dispensing medications without valid prescriptions.”Collaboration with government and drug authoritiesThe TSCDA is working closely with the government and the Drugs Controller Authority to ensure that habit-forming drugs are distributed responsibly.
