Following the tragic road accident that claimed the life of MLA Lasya Nanditha, the Telangana government announced on Saturday that driving tests will be mandatory for drivers employed by ministers, MLAs, IAS, and IPS officers.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar referred to the recent spate of road accidents that involved VIPs and attributed them to the presence of inexperienced drivers. He emphasized the importance of hiring competent individuals, particularly for long-distance travel.

Lasya Nanditha, MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment, tragically passed away on Friday in a car accident near Patancheru, Sangareddy district.
This new policy, while initiated in the wake of a tragic event, has the potential to significantly improve road safety for VIPs and their staff. By ensuring that drivers possess the necessary skills and undergo proper testing, the government hopes to prevent similar accidents in the future.
