Governor accepts KCR's resignation

Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan accepted the resignation and requested Chief Minister KCR to continue office up until the state's new administration is formed.

With 62 seats already secured and two more to come, the Congress party is expected to form a government in Telangana. Meanwhile, the BRS is ahead in three assembly seats and has secured 36 seats followed by BJP, who won eight seats. CPI has won one seat, while AIMIM has won seven.

Following the Congress's victory, party members in Hyderabad staged celebrations outside the party headquarters, chanting 'CM-CM' in support of the arrival of state party president Revanth Reddy.

However, in an expected turn of events in the Kamareddy assembly constituency of Telangana, BJP’s Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy handed defeat to heavyweights K Chandrashekar Rao of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and A Revanth Reddy, who is state Congress chief.

The Congress party's assurances in Telangana have proven to be a game changer for the party following a resounding win in Karnataka.

The guarantees extended to a broad range of voters, including women, farmers, students, and the families of martyrs, and included cash transfers, pension plans, free energy, gas, and land. 'Mahalakshmi', 'Rythu Bharosa', 'Gruha Jyothi', 'Indiramma Indlu', 'Yuva Vikasam', and 'Cheyutha' are among them.

Congress follows 'Karnataka model'

The Congress party has promised to offer free bus travel for women in Telangana and to distribute Rs 2500 to women per month under the Mahalaxmi Yojana, similar to the 'Karnataka model' of campaigning that led the party's crushing victory in the state. The grand old party also promised a pension of Rs 4,000 per month for the aged people and 200 units of free electricity for every home.
