New Delhi: A tragic incident occurred in Telangana's Khammam where a 40-year-old man, Donepudi Mahesh Babu, died due to electrocution on Sunday evening. The accident happened while he was preparing to bathe his pet dog. Babu intended to heat water with an electric heater, but a phone call diverted his attention. While engaged in the conversation, he accidentally placed the heater rod under his arm instead of submerging it in the water, as he had originally planned.

Fatal electric shock claims life

Unaware of the danger, Babu switched on the electric heater, receiving a severe electric shock. The shock was so intense that it caused him to collapse instantly. His wife, Durga Devi, quickly rushed him to the nearest hospital, but sadly, the medical team declared him dead on arrival, despite their best efforts to save him.

Another life lost to electrocution

Another devastating accident occurred in Birhula village, part of the Salivada Gram Panchayat in Shahpura Tehsil, Jabalpur on Monday, where a villager was critically injured after coming into contact with exposed electrical wires. Due to the absence of emergency ambulance services, the injured villager had to be rushed to the hospital on a makeshift stretcher, locally known as a 'Khatiya', highlighting the dire need for improved emergency response infrastructure in the area.

Rural infrastructure gaps

The victim identified as Machal Singh Gond was electrocuted while fixing electrical wires near his home. With no ambulance available, villagers had to carry him on foot through narrow paths to get him medical help.

Despite their efforts to take him to Shahpura’s government hospital and then to the Medical College Hospital, Gond was declared dead upon arrival. The poor road conditions made it even harder to get him medical help quickly.
