Teen girl raped by mother’s ‘live-in partner’ in Delhi, accused arrested

In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her mother’s 29-year-old live-in partner in Delhi months ago, said the police on Wednesday.

This depressing crime took place in the Burari area in North Delhi on July 23 last year and the accused, Ankit Yadav, a resident of Loni in UP’s Ghaziabad, has been apprehended now.

Reportedly, the accused, who is a bus driver working on a contract basis, has been living with the victim’s mother for the past eight years. The mother had a son in this live-in relationship.

What happened on July 23 in Delhi’s Burari area?

On July 23, 2023, the woman left her children at home during which the accused, Ankit took advantage of the unattended children and allegedly raped the teen girl. The accused threatened her and repeated his heinous crime a few times.

The woman had three kids from her previous marriage. She reported the matter to the police after coming to know about the incident, following which legal action was taken.

The medical examination and counseling of the rape survivor has been done, said the Delhi Police. Moreover, the police also recorded her statement under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

Case filed against accused

Following her statement, a case was lodged under sections 376 (rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Meanwhile, the accused has been sent to judicial custody.
