Tamil Nadu News: In a troubling incident on Friday, more than 100 people, including 40 children, fell ill after consuming biryani served at an event organized by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu. The event, which featured a general meeting and the distribution of welfare items to the public, saw biryani provided to attendees. Some individuals even took the food home to share with their families.Shortly after consuming the biryani, a significant number of people began experiencing symptoms of nausea and vomiting. The affected individuals were quickly rushed to the Villur Primary Healthcare Centre for treatment. As the situation worsened, 10 ambulances were dispatched to transport patients to healthcare facilities in Virudhunagar and Kallikudi, where they are now receiving medical care.Stale food with massive impact Preliminary hospital reports suggest that the food poisoning was caused by stale food. The local police in Thirumangalam have initiated an investigation to determine the cause and are conducting further inquiries into the incident. The mass food poisoning has raised concerns about food safety practices at large gatherings, especially in events organized by political parties where food is served to large crowds.
