New Delhi: A disturbing incident has come to light from Tamil Nadu's Salem where a former member of the Naam Tamilar Katchi party, identified as A Sivaraman, has passed away at a hospital in Salem, Tamil Nadu, after being taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor student at a fake NCC training camp. The 30-year-old suspect was apprehended by police while attempting to escape and had ingested rat poison in an apparent attempt to harm himself.

Accused makes fatal attempt to flee

A Sivaraman was taken into custody on August 18, but he tried to run away, which led to a leg injury. After his arrest, he was rushed to the hospital to receive medical care for his broken leg.

According to a senior police official, Sivaraman admitted to swallowing poison in an attempt to avoid being caught by the police.

Following initial treatment, Sivaraman was transferred to a government hospital for specialized treatment, including dialysis. Unfortunately, the medical team was unable to save him, and he passed away due to the poison early Friday morning.

Authorities reported that Sivaraman had previously tried to harm himself by taking poison last month, reportedly because of issues at home and was hospitalized for almost a week to recover.

Crime at fake cadet camp

A 12-year-old girl who attended a fake National Cadet Corps camp in Krishnagiri district's Bargur area was allegedly sexually assaulted by Sivaraman, leading to a massive investigation and multiple arrests. So far, 11 individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the case, including school officials and people who helped Sivaraman carry out the crime.

Separate incident of Sivaraman's father

In a tragic coincidence, Sivaraman's father passed away on Thursday night after a motorbike accident in Kaveripattinam, where he fell off his bike and died. Police officials believe it was an accidental fall and are investigating both this incident and Sivaraman's death.
