Tamil Nadu: At least six workers lose their lives in catastrophic firecracker factory explosion

Tamil Nadu News: At least six workers tragically lost their lives in a devastating explosion at a firecracker manufacturing facility located in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday. According to reports the incident was confirmed by local officials.

Explosion Details

The explosion is believed to have occurred during the chemical mixing process, which resulted in the destruction of at least one room within the facility. The force of the blast was significant enough to cause fatalities among the workers present at the time. Emergency services, including the fire and rescue department, promptly arrived at the scene to assess and manage the situation.

Related Incident in Coimbatore

In a separate incident just hours prior, a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker overturned on the Avinashi Road flyover in Coimbatore. The accident caused a minor gas leak but fortunately resulted in no injuries. District collector Kranthi Kumar Pati reported that the tanker detached from its truck while navigating a roundabout, leading to its capsizing. Traffic in central Coimbatore was temporarily halted due to this mishap.

As a precautionary measure, schools situated within a 500-meter to one-kilometer radius of the accident site were instructed to close for the day. The local police quickly responded to secure the area and prevent further incidents. Fire service personnel utilized water sprays on the tanker, which was carrying 18 tonnes of LPG destined for a Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) bottling plant in Ganapathy, Coimbatore.
