Tahawwur Rana
New Delhi: 64 -year -old Tawwur Rana, born in Pakistan and holding Canadian citizenship, has been brought to India in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Rana is currently in custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and is placed in the high security cell of the NIA headquarters. - Quran: Rana requested a Quran, which was promptly provided by NIA officials. He reportedly offers namaz five times a day and has been presenting himself as a religious person.
- Pen and Paper: Rana also requested a pen and paper to write, which have been provided to him under close supervision to prevent any misuse.- Legal Representation: As per the Delhi court's direction, Rana is allowed to meet a lawyer appointed by the Delhi Legal Services Authority every alternate day.
The NIA is conducting ongoing interrogations of Rana, with further questioning scheduled as part of their investigation. To ensure his health and safety, Rana is being medically examined every 48 hours. According to officials, Rana is being treated like any other arrested person, with all legal and health procedures being followed as per the rules ¹.
