Tahawwur Rana, a prime accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, has finally been extradited to India from the US. This dramatic turn of events has once again brought up security and justice system in the country as a topic of debate. Rana was presented in front of a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in the wee hours of last night, and he was remanded in 18-day NIA custody.

The cell is monitored round-the-clock, and teams of SWAT, Delhi Police, and central security forces are deployed in the security arrangements.

Tight security and screening process

There is no compromise in Rana's security and investigation process. The NIA has ensured that every aspect is closely monitored during his custody. We are ensuring that every move of Rana is recorded and there is no lapse," another official said. The extradition is considered to be a significant step in the investigation of the 2008 Mumbai attack in which 166 people were killed.
