Delhi dirty water row: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament, Swati Maliwal, visited Chief Minister Atishi’s residence on Saturday carrying a bottle of murky water she claimed represents the substandard water being supplied across Delhi. Outside the CM’s official residence, Maliwal poured out the filthy water in protest, asserting that Delhi residents are being forced to use this smelly and contaminated water daily. She issued a stern 15-day ultimatum to the Chief Minister, threatening to escalate her protest by spraying a tanker of polluted water at the CM’s residence if conditions do not improve.

'Delhi residents facing crisis'

Speaking to the media, Maliwal shared, "People from Sagarpur and Dwarka reached out to me, describing severe water issues in their area. When I visited, I saw black water flowing from their taps. I filled a bottle with this water and brought it here to the Chief Minister’s residence. Since 2015, we have repeatedly heard promises that things will improve next year."

15-day warning to CM Atishi, video surfaces

In her impassioned address, Maliwal stated, "I ask the Chief Minister, would you drink this black water? This is merely a sample. If the water supply in Delhi isn’t fixed within 15 days, I’ll bring a whole tanker of this water and pour it here. For now, I’m leaving this bottle – the CM can bathe with it, drink it, or perhaps even purify her sins with it."

Maliwal took to her social media account to share a video of the incident, captioned: "I've brought this black, foul-smelling water from the home of a retired army officer in Dwarka. CM Atishi has been making the area drink this contaminated water for months. Today, I threw this dirty water outside her house and left a bottle of it as well. CM Madam, drink this water and feel the people’s pain. If things don’t improve, I'll bring a tanker next time."

Public shocked by water quality

Maliwal’s visit to the Dwarka area on Saturday afternoon revealed the shocking state of the tap water. In a video, visibly taken aback, Maliwal exclaimed, “Oh God… this is too much. I can’t believe it; this is the Delhi government’s version of Coca-Cola straight from the tap – their gift to the people for Diwali.”

When she questioned a local retired army officer about whether complaints had been made, he replied, “Every house faces this issue. I informed Yadav ji, Mishra ji, and the MLA, but no one does anything.”

'Lavish spending on CM residence, neglect for public'

In a fiery statement, Maliwal criticized the government, saying, “They’ve installed a ₹15 crore water purification system in the CM’s house, but they send this black water to the public. They have no shame, leaving people to suffer. Today is Govardhan Puja, and Diwali has passed. While they celebrate Diwali lavishly, people are left to celebrate in filth. Roads remain unrepaired, garbage is everywhere, and this water is what the public has to deal with. Even the local MLA is the Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board, yet this is the condition.”
