A 40-year-old man from Bulandshahr met a tragic end in Greater Noida's Beta 2 locality on Monday night, allegedly at the hands of a man suspicious of the victim's relationship with his sister-in-law, according to police reports on Tuesday.

The suspect initially cooperated with the police investigation but later attempted to mislead authorities. However, inconsistencies in his statements led to his arrest on charges of murder, senior officers disclosed.

Identified as Krishna Pal Singh, the deceased worked as a caretaker at an under-construction site in Sector 36 of Greater Noida, as stated by Ashok Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police. Police were alerted around 7 am on Tuesday about Singh's lifeless body discovered with severe head injuries outside the construction site. Upon arrival, authorities initiated investigations, gathering statements from neighbors and acquaintances to piece together the events leading to Singh's demise.

During the inquiry, neighbor Dharmendra initially denied any acquaintance with Singh but later revealed that they had dined together on Monday night. Despite attempts to mislead investigators, Dharmendra eventually confessed to the crime, admitting to murdering Singh due to suspicions of an alleged affair with his sister-in-law.

According to additional DCP Kumar, Singh's interactions with Dharmendra's sister-in-law fueled the suspect's suspicions, prompting him to arrange a meeting with Singh on Monday night.

Subsequently, Dharmendra fatally assaulted Singh with a wooden stick outside the building before fleeing the scene with Singh's mobile phone, which was later recovered from him.

A murder case has been registered against Dharmendra under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, and he has been apprehended. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, as authorities seek to uncover further details surrounding the tragic incident.
