Supriya Shrinate faces heat! Why Congress dropped her from Maharajganj seat for upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024?

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate who is the centre of a controversy after remarks on Bollywood actor and BJP’s Mandi candidate Kangana Ranaut. The post has been deleted from social media now.

Virendra Chaudhary, a Maharajganj resident, was put forward by the Congress in lieu of Supriya Shrinate on its eighth list of 14 candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Supriya Shrinate of the Maharajganj constituency in Uttar Pradesh, which she unsuccessfully contested in the 2019 general elections, has been denied a Lok Sabha ticket by the Congress party.

Supriya Shrinate’s Response

The controversy sparked after, Shrinate made derogatory remarks social media post against actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut. Shrinate claimed that several people have access to her social media accounts and someone from there made the ‘extremely inappropriate’ post, which has since been deleted.

"As soon as I came to know, I deleted that post. Everyone who knows me, also knows very well that I can never make personal and indecent comments towards any woman. I wanted to know how this happened," she said.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has issued a show cause notice to Shrinate for her offensive remarks against Kangana Ranaut. The commission has asked her to respond on ‘undignified’ remarks by 5 pm on March 29.
