New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Subramanian Swamy has called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to hold a joint press conference in response to Canada’s recent allegations. The Canadian government accused Shah of orchestrating a campaign targeting Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil, a claim that has intensified tensions.

Reacting to these reports, Swamy took to X (formerly Twitter), urging, “Modi and Amit Shah should hold a joint media conference and answer questions; otherwise, a PIL is inevitable.” Swamy further stated that if Shah does not personally address the issue in a press conference, PM Modi should consider removing him from the Ministry of Home Affairs until cleared by an Indian court.

In a separate post, Swamy emphasized, “Either Amit Shah should hold a media conference and refute it, or Modi should remove him from the MHA until an Indian court clears him of having ordered a hit abroad.”

Swamy is known for his outpoken critique

Known for his outspoken critiques of the Modi government, Swamy also addressed India’s recent Line of Actual Control (LAC) agreement with China, questioning its efficacy. On Tuesday, he commented, “It is for Modi to recover and restore the status quo ante. India claims an LAC agreement, but there is a loss of our land which the Chinese have gained. What kind of agreement is that?”

Swamy’s statements have stirred public attention, calling for government transparency amid the escalating Canada-India diplomatic dispute.
