Stabbed 16 times for just Rs 570! Man kills woman technician after fight over electricity bill in Maharashtra

The department said that there was nothing wrong with the bill for which the accused murdered the female technician.

In a tragic incident, a 33-year-old man allegedly hacked a woman technician of the MSEDCL to death over a dispute about electricity bill in Pune district on Wednesday. The accused attacked her multiple times with a sharp weapon. Rinku Thite (victim) had returned after a ten-day leave. 

What's full matter? 

According to the information, this incident took place in Morgaon village, 35 kilometers away from Baramati. Rinku Govind Bansode, a 34-year-old female employee working in an electricity distribution company, has died. She was working in Morgaon for the last ten years. The woman was alone in the office, when a person named Abhijeet Pote came there.

Abhijeet started arguing with the female employee about the lack of improvement in the electricity bill. Amidst the dispute, Abhijeet attacked the female employee with a koyta (sharp weapon). He hit her on the head and hands about 16 times, due to which the woman Rinku became drenched in blood. 

Rinku Thite succumbed to injuries

Rinku Thite was immediately taken to a private hospital in Pune, where she died during treatment. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused Abhijeet. 

Clarification by electrity department

After the incident, clarification has been given by the electricity department. The department said that there was nothing wrong with the bill for which the accused murdered the female technician. The accused used 63 units of electricity in April, resulting in an electricity bill of ₹570. Due to heat, electricity usage has increased by 30 units this month, due to which the bill has been Rs 570, which is correct as per the electricity usage.
