A 38-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic accident on Sohna-Tauru Road when a speeding container truck toppled over him at a sharp bend near Pahad Colony, Sohna Valley, on Thursday afternoon. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, prompting a police investigation to trace and arrest him.
The deceased, Sharib Tasvir, was a resident of Rashid Nagar, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and lived in Pasonda, Hindon, Ghaziabad, with his family. He worked as a sales executive at a courier firm and was returning to Ghaziabad after picking up a parcel from Rewari when the accident occurred. According to investigators, Tasvir had stopped on the roadside to attend a phone call when the heavily loaded truck, coming downhill at high speed, lost control and overturned at the bend. “Before Tasvir could react, the truck fell over him and his motorcycle, crushing him instantly,” a senior police officer said.
Commuters alerted the police control room, and an emergency response team was dispatched to the scene. However, it took nearly 30 minutes to extricate Tasvir’s body, as a crane was needed to lift the truck. He was rushed to Sohna Subdivisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The overturned truck caused major traffic disruption on Sohna-Tauru Road for over an hour before it was removed. The sealed container on the truck made it unclear what it was carrying, and authorities have impounded both the truck and the victim’s motorcycle.
Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Kumar stated that a notice would be issued to the truck owner to trace the driver. An FIR has been registered at City Sohna police station under: Section 106 (Causing death by negligence), and Section 281 (Rash driving on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The complaint was filed by the victim’s brother, Atif Tasvir. The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy on Friday.
