South Delhi school takes precautions, evacuates students after bomb threat email

New Delhi: A shocking incident has emerged from Delhi's Greater Kailash area where a bomb threat sent via email prompted the evacuation of Summer Fields School on Friday. The email received at 12:30 AM went unnoticed until morning when school authorities opened the premises. Police were quickly informed and students were safely evacuated within 10 minutes. Although initial investigations suggest that the threat may have been a hoax.

School Principal Shalini Agarwal briefed reporters on the incident, stating that an email received late at night was discovered early morning, prompting swift action by standard protocols. Within 10 minutes, students were safely evacuated and authorities were notified.

She expressed gratitude for the police's prompt and magnificent support. With few students remaining on campus, the school awaits the arrival of parents for pickup. Currently, police and bomb squad personnel are conducting a thorough premises check. Notably, there was no panic among parents.

Investigation is underway

Following the bomb threat, a case has been registered with the authorities and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Similar incident in the past 

A similar bomb threat email was sent to 150 schools in Delhi-NCR just a few months ago. The investigators suspect the email originated from Hungary's Budapest. Delhi Police have successfully traced the IP address of the emails to Budapest and plan to collaborate with Hungarian authorities for a deeper investigation into the matter.
