After completing the two-day brain-storming session with the 26 parties opposition in Bengaluru, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi faced trouble on their way back as their Bengaluru-Delhi flight made an emergency landing at the Bhopal airport amid rough weather conditions prevailed during their journey, the police officials said.
The incident took place around 7.45 pm and the plane was likely to take off for onward journey 9.30 pm. Soon after the party officials heard the news, Senior Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders, including former minister PC Sharma and MLA Kunal Chaudhary reached the airport.
Taking notes from the session, it concluded with the opposition parties forming a coalition – Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance or ‘INDIA’, setting the tone of their 2024 Lok Sabha campaign. Congress’ Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee called it a battle between ‘NDA and INDIA’ in 2024.
Addressing a press conference, the former Congress chief said that they (the opposition) have decided to prepare an effective action plan where they will talk about their ideology and programmes.
Further, Gandhi said, “The fight is against the ideology of the BJP and their thinking, they are attacking the country, unemployment is rampant, and the country’s wealth is being taken away from millions and handed over to a few of the friends of the BJP and the Prime Minister.”
He also said the flight was not between the opposition parties and the ruling BJP, but it’s a ‘fight for the idea of India that was being attacked.’
