New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its campaign against former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, accusing her of connections with a George Soros-funded organization that allegedly supports the notion of an independent Kashmir. The BJP's allegations surfaced in a series of posts on the social media platform X, where they asserted that Gandhi's associations reveal the detrimental influence of foreign entities on India's internal affairs.

In their posts, the BJP stated, 'Sonia Gandhi, as the Co-President of the FDL-AP Foundation, is linked to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation. Notably, the FDL-AP Foundation has expressed their views that treat Kashmir as a separate entity.' This statement underscores the party's concerns regarding external influences shaping India's political landscape and territorial integrity.

BJP Accuses Sonia Gandhi of Collaborating with Foreign Interests

The BJP further alleged that this relationship between Sonia Gandhi and an organization advocating for Kashmir's independence exemplifies a broader trend of foreign interference in Indian politics. The party emphasized that such connections could have significant political ramifications. They articulated, 'This association between Sonia Gandhi and an organisation that has backed the idea of Kashmir as an independent nation expresses the influence of foreign entities on India’s internal affairs and the political impact of such connections.'

In another thread on X, the BJP claimed that Gandhi's role as chairperson of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation facilitated a partnership with the George Soros Foundation. This partnership was portrayed as indicative of how foreign funding could potentially sway Indian organizations and political narratives.

Rahul Gandhi's Press Conference Under Scrutiny Amid Allegations

The BJP also scrutinized Rahul Gandhi's recent press conference concerning businessman Adani, noting that it was broadcast by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which they allege is funded by George Soros. The BJP remarked, 'Rahul Gandhi's press conference on Adani was live telecast by George Soros-funded OCCRP, which Gandhi used as a source to criticise Adani. It shows nothing but their strong and dangerous relationship.' This assertion aims to highlight what they perceive as a troubling alliance between opposition leaders and foreign interests.

Despite these allegations, U.S. officials have dismissed claims from the BJP suggesting American involvement in efforts to destabilize India. In response to these developments, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey announced plans to confront Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha regarding these issues. Dubey accused both OCCRP and George Soros of conspiring with opposition parties to undermine India's economy and tarnish the reputation of Prime Minister Modi’s government.

In his posts, Dubey stated, 'Yesterday I read the statement of the US embassy officials again and again. They admitted that the US government funds OCCRP, and Soros' foundation also funds it. OCCRP and Soros' work is to ruin India's economy and defame the Modi government in connivance with opposition leaders.' He expressed his determination to pose ten questions to Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, asserting his right under Lok Sabha Rule 357 to seek answers.

U.S. Rejection of BJP's Claims Highlights Diplomatic Tensions

Despite these escalating accusations from the BJP, U.S. officials have firmly rejected any allegations suggesting that American entities are backing efforts to destabilize India. They have categorically denied claims that State Department-funded organizations or 'deep state' elements are targeting Indian leaders or institutions.

This ongoing conflict between the BJP and Congress over alleged foreign influence underscores significant tensions within Indian politics, particularly regarding issues related to national sovereignty and external funding sources.
