In a disturbing turn of events, a 30-year-old man in Kota, Rajasthan, allegedly took the life of his bedridden father after a heated argument, as confirmed by local authorities on Monday. The accused, identified as Mahaveer Meghwal, was apprehended by the police following the incident. Reports suggest that Mahaveer, struggling with drug addiction and mental health issues, committed the act during a confrontation with his father.

When did it happen?

The incident occurred within the vicinity of the Railway Colony police station on Sunday morning. However, it was only later in the evening when Mahaveer's mother returned home, she found him sitting beside the lifeless body of her husband, Dayaram Meghwal, aged 60.

According to Circle Officer Pankaj Yadav, the accused used an axe handle to fatally strike his father during the altercation. Dayaram, already confined to his bed due to prolonged illness, succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

In a chilling scene, Mahaveer reportedly remained seated beside his father's body for hours until his mother's return. Yadav further stated that Mahaveer's inconsistent statements during interrogation hinted at the complex web of issues surrounding the incident.

Legal action taken

Mahaveer has been placed under arrest under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, and investigations into the matter are underway.

The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the need for awareness and support for individuals grappling with mental health challenges and addiction issues.
