New Delhi: A soldier who was injured during a counter-infiltration operation in the early hours of Tuesday has succumbed to his injuries. Lance Naik Subhash Chander, a 28-year-old braveheart from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, lost his life in the line of duty. The Indian Army received intelligence about an infiltration attempt by two groups of 3-6 Pakistani terrorists, including members from Pakistan's Border Action Team, near a forward post.

As the terrorists attempted to cross the border, they began firing after hearing footsteps. The Pakistani forces from across the border also provided cover fire to aid the infiltration. Lance Naik Subhash Chander, along with his comrades from the Army and BSF, engaged in a fierce gun battle with the intruders.

One terrorist killed

During the intense exchange of fire, Lance Naik Chander managed to kill one of the terrorists. Despite sustaining fatal injuries, he continued to fight valiantly. Bloodstains and shoe marks were later found near a drain along the Line of Control (LOC), indicating the escape route of the terrorists. Reports suggest that two injured terrorists were admitted to a hospital in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Second attack within 24 hours

This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of another thwarted terror attack just 24 hours earlier. On Monday, terrorists targeted an Army post in the remote village of Gunda in Rajouri district. Around 3 AM, the terrorists opened fire on an Army company.
Joint Security Operation

In response to the attack, the area was cordoned off, and a comprehensive search operation was launched. The Indian Army, along with the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit of the Romeo Force, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), worked together to locate and neutralize the threat. The newly established camp that was targeted underwent a thorough sweep to ensure no remaining threats were present.
