New Delhi: 121 families have still been reeling under the impact of the stampede in Hathras on Tuesday where their loved ones died. Now, in a recent development, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), commissioned by the Uttar Pradesh government following the tragic stampede at Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari's satsang in Fullerai village, Hathras district, has been submitted to the Home Department. 121 individuals died

On June 2, 121 individuals lost their lives in a stampede during a religious gathering in Hathras. Promptly, the state government initiated an SIT probe, documenting statements from key personnel including the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police. This meticulous investigation aims to unravel the circumstances leading to the tragic incident and assign accountability.

Pinpoints responsiblity for the mishap

The report meticulously outlines the sequence of events during the stampede, evaluates the adequacy of security measures, identifies individuals involved, and pinpoints responsibility for the mishap. The investigative effort, led by Agra ADG Anupama Kulshreshtha and Aligarh Divisional Commissioner Chaitra V, is expected to pave the way for potential administrative actions.

Officials, staff members may be responsible

Sources close to the matter suggest that disciplinary action may ensue against culpable officials and staff members implicated in the report. The local administration's alleged shortcomings in crowd management and event oversight are likely focal points, as the report scrutinizes compliance with safety protocols amid a substantial gathering.

No blame to Bhole Baba

While the report refrains from attributing blame to Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari, alias Bhole Baba, who remains at large since the incident, his legal representatives assert allegations of foul play. Initial accounts pointed to an unruly surge after devotees sought to collect sacred dust following the satsang.

Uphold his spiritual significance

Following the tragedy, Bhole Baba's followers, predominantly women, uphold his spiritual significance, revering substances such as sacred dust and prasad as imbued with divine qualities. The incident has underscored broader implications regarding public safety and religious fervor in community events. The SIT's exhaustive investigation and subsequent report aim to offer clarity and justice in the aftermath of the Hathras stampede, ensuring accountability while addressing the concerns of affected communities and stakeholders.
