Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has reaffirmed the commitment to ongoing anti-terror operations, emphasizing that security agencies have been directed to eliminate terrorism in the region. This declaration comes in light of recent violent incidents along the Line of Control (LoC), including an IED attack that resulted in the deaths of two army personnel.
During a press briefing on February 17, 2025, Sinha assured that there would be no pause in anti-terror operations. He stated that clear directives have been issued to security forces to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir. "The Indian Army is fully capable of responding to any situation on the borders," he declared, highlighting the military's readiness to confront threats effectively.
The urgency of Sinha's statement follows a series of violent incidents, including an IED attack in the Akhnoor sector on February 11, which claimed the lives of two soldiers, including a captain. Additionally, cross-border firing incidents have resulted in injuries to several personnel. The Lt Governor noted that retaliatory actions by the Indian Army have inflicted significant casualties on enemy forces across the border.
Sinha emphasized the importance of collaboration among various security agencies, including the police and military, to combat terrorism effectively. He stated that these agencies are working closely together and have been given explicit instructions to dismantle the terror ecosystem operating within the region. "Our top priority is to ensure peace and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir," he reiterated.
The commitment to a robust anti-terror strategy is not new for Jammu and Kashmir. This region has faced ongoing challenges related to militancy and violence for decades. With a renewed focus on eliminating terrorist threats, Sinha's administration aims to foster an environment conducive to peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
