New Delhi: In a devastating accident on Thursday, four Indian Army personnel lost their lives when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge while traveling from Pedong, West Bengal, to Zuluk in Sikkims Pakyong district. The tragic incident took place at Vertical Veer, near Dalopchand Dara along the Rhenock-Rongli state highway, commonly referred to as the Silk Route. All of them were part of a unit stationed in Binaguri, West Bengal. The Indian Army and local authorities responded swiftly to the incident, but unfortunately, none of the personnel could be saved. The challenging terrain and steep drop posed significant difficulties in rescue operations.
