Crime News: In a horrifying incident in Haryana's Kaithal district, a Sikh man was brutally attacked by two bike-borne miscreants. The assailants allegedly hurled communal slurs, referring to him as a 'Khalistani' and invoking the traumatic memories of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Sukhwinder Singh, a local furniture shop owner from Kaithal city, was heading home after closing his shop near the city bus stand. Between 9 PM and 10 PM on Monday, he stopped at a railway crossing near the Deputy Commissioner's residence due to an approaching train. It was here that the attack took place.

Brutal assault on Sikh man

"I was waiting at the railway crossing when two unknown young men on a bike approached and told me to move aside. They insulted me by calling me 'Khalistani' and threatened to remind me of the events of 1984 if I didn't comply," recounted Sukhwinder Singh. Fortunately, passersby intervened. Raju, a resident of Pai village, was among those who came to Sukhwinder's aid.

Immediate response from Police

Sukhwinder Singh was rushed to the civil hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. The Civil Lines police of Kaithal district promptly lodged an FIR and initiated an investigation. Sheela Devi, the station house officer (SHO) of the Civil Lines police station, stated, "It appears an argument at the railway crossing, which escalated into a violent clash. We have obtained inputs about the accused and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area."

Kaithal SP Upasana confirmed the FIR and assured that the matter is being thoroughly investigated. She stated that teams are working diligently to bring justice.

Sukhbir Singh Badal demands immediate action

Sukhbir Singh Badal, Shiromani Akali Dal President, condemned the attack and called on the union and state governments to take immediate action.

In his post on X, Sukhbir Singh Badal wrote, "My party and I vehemently condemn the brutal attack on a peaceful Sikh youth in Kaithal, who was wrongly labeled as a separatist. This incident is a direct result of the hate-filled and divisive politics that has plagued our country over the past decade, echoing the dangerous anti-Sikh sentiments of the Indira Gandhi era. "

On the other hand, Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia blamed the actress Kangana Ranaut for spreading hate against the Sikh community through her social media posts. "The BJP must address the hate speech propagated by their supporters to prevent a repeat of 1984," Majithia urged.

Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring echoed these sentiments. He alleged that the attack was a consequence of hate speech by Kangana Ranaut and other BJP leaders.
