In a shocking twist in the murder case of Indian rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that the murder weapon was supplied by a Pakistani arms supplier in Dubai.

The Pakistani national – identified as Hamid – had a direct role in the killing of Moose Wala, an NIA officer told HindustanTimes on the grounds of anonymity.

Sidhu Moose Wala, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot dead by six shooters using assault rifles and pistols on May 29, 2022, while travelling in his hometown of Mansa.

Pak man met arms supplier in Sidhu Moose Wala murder

According to media reports, Hamid met with Shahbaz Ansari, who was a regular arms supplier for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Ansari, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, met with Hamid in Dubai. The pair were introduced by another Pakistani national, Faizi Khan.

Hamid bragged to Ansari about his close connection with the Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who was a high-ranking member of the Bishnoi gang.

As per documents submitted by the NIA in the court, “Investigations have established that Shahbaz Ansari [arrested by NIA on December 8, 2022 from Bulandshahr] visited Dubai many times and during these visits, he came in contact with one Faizi Khan, who is a Pakistani national and works as a hawala operator in Dubai. Faizi Khan introduced Ansari to one Hamid, who is also a Pakistani national and arms smuggler.

“During one such meeting, Ansari and Hamid discussed about the business of arms smuggling and supply of consignment of arms and ammunition in India. During this meeting, Hamid also told Ansari that we are going to supply assault rifles and other weapons to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi for the killing of Shubhdeep Singh alias Sidhu Moosewala. Hamid said they are in touch with Goldy Brar and has supplied weapons to him many times”

Based on the investigation, the NIA established that Shahbaz Ansari and his father Kurban Ansari were the main sources of the weapons used by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and that “it is learnt that same weapons were used in killing of Moosewala”.

NIA reveals how Moose Wala murder was planned

The NIA documents further explained in detail how the planning of Moose Wala’s murder happened, saying, “During the planning and execution of Sidhu Moosewala, the accused were lodged in six different jails – Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria (in Tihar), Manpreet alias Manna (Ferozpur), Saraj Singh alias Mantoo in Special jail (Bathinda), Manmohan Singh alias Mohana (in Mansa jail) but all of them were in touch with Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar, who after discussing with the jail associates, finally tasked the shooters to kill Moosewala immediately after the singer’s security was downgraded.”

Moose Wala – who had joined the Congress in 2021 – had his security cover revoked by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab one day before his eventual murder.

The NIA report also had confessions from Lawrence Bishnoi, in which he said, “Goldy Brar managed the stay, vehicles for the shooters and also helped them in reconnaissance. I had sent approximately ₹50-60 lakh via hawala to Goldy Brar in Canada.”

The latest revelations have come as a part of the NIA’s investigation into the links between Khalistani radicals and North Indian gangsters.
