New Delhi: Bengaluru witnessed a flurry of accusations and counterclaims after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that Congress workers raised pro-Pakistan slogans at Vidhana Soudha following Naseer Hussain's victory in the Rajya Sabha polls.
The BJP swiftly organized a protest in front of the Vidhana Soudha Police Station and the Congress office on Queens Road, demanding action against those responsible for the alleged sloganeering.
In response to the BJP's accusations, Bengaluru Police took action by filing a suo motu case against an unidentified individual. The incident unfolded at the Vidhana Soudha entrance, coinciding with Naseer Hussain's triumph in the Rajya Sabha polls.
An FIR was lodged by the Vidhana Soudha Police, acting upon an Assistant Sub-Inspector's complaint, citing violations of IPC sections 505(1)(B) and 153(B), pertaining to the propagation of disharmony and fear among the public.
Congress leader Naseer Hussain promptly refuted the BJP's claims, asserting that their supporters were chanting slogans in favor of the Congress and him, without any mention of Pakistan. Hussain urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
The celebrations following the Congress's success in the Rajya Sabha elections were marred by the BJP's allegations, leading to heightened tensions between the two parties. The BJP announced its intent to raise the issue during the upcoming Assembly session, advocating for stringent action against the alleged perpetrators.
In the recent Rajya Sabha polls in Karnataka, Congress candidates Ajay Maken, GC Chandrashekhar, and Syed Naseer Hussain emerged victorious, alongside BJP candidate Narayansa Bhandage.
