New Delhi: Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC) during a public rally in Ramban, accusing the party of sympathizing with terrorists. Singh directly questioned former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding his recent comments on Afzal Guru, who was convicted in the 2001 Parliament attack and later hanged.

Should Afzal Guru have been garlanded?

Singh expressed his disapproval of Omar Abdullah’s statement that Afzal Guru should not have been executed. "The National Conference has shown sympathy towards terrorists. I recently heard Omar Abdullah say that Afzal Guru should not have been hanged. I want to ask him, Should Afzal Guru have been garlanded instead?" Singh asked, raising concerns about NC’s stance on terrorism.

Achievements under BJP and Article 370

Singh also took the opportunity to highlight the BJP’s achievements in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, citing the creation of 40,000 jobs in the last five years. He urged the public to support the BJP in the upcoming elections, stating that once his party forms a government, the development will be so significant that residents of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) would want to join India.

Rajnath’s message to PoK residents

Addressing the people of PoK, Singh declared, “While Pakistan considers you foreigners, India regards you as its own,” emphasizing India’s stance on PoK as an integral part of the country. His remarks aim to strengthen India’s position on Jammu and Kashmir and build momentum for the BJP’s electoral campaign.
