Shocking Threat to Female Judge in Open Court: ‘Meet Me Outside, See If You Go Home Alive’

 New Delhi: A shocking incident took place in a Delhi court. The entire court was stunned when a convict and his lawyer threatened and abused a woman after her conviction in a cheque bounce case. The accused even tried to throw something at the judge when the judge did not pronounce the verdict in his favour. After this, he instructed his lawyer to do everything possible to get the verdict in his favour.

Female Judge faces life threat

According to a Bar and Bench report, the court in its April 2 order mentioned that the accused threatened the judge, saying, "Tu hai kya cheez... Tu bahar mil dekhna hoon kaise zinda ghar jaati hai." Judicial Magistrate Shivangi Mangala held the accused guilty of the offence punishable under Section 138 (cheque bouncing) of the Negotiable Instruments Act and directed him to furnish a bail bond under Section 437A CrPC on the next date of hearing.

Judge faces life threat in Public Hearing

Judge Mangala said in her order that after the conviction, the accused and his lawyer threatened her. They pressured her to resign from her post. Despite the conviction, she demanded the acquittal of the accused. They also threatened to file a complaint against her and forcibly take her resignation. The judge said that appropriate action will be taken against the accused before the National Commission for Women for threats and harassment. The court directed that the judges always take necessary steps in favor of justice despite all obstacles. For such threats and harassment, appropriate action will be taken against the accused before the National Commission for Women, Delhi.

The woman judge has also issued a show cause notice to the convict's lawyer Atul Kumar and sought an explanation as to why criminal contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for misbehaving with the judge.

In addition to taking action against the convict, the court has issued a show-cause notice to his lawyer, Atul Kumar. He has been asked to justify his misconduct and explain why criminal contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him. The court has instructed Kumar to provide a written response by the next hearing date.
