In a shocking revelation from Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, a young man found himself entangled in espionage after being lured by his girlfriend, who turned out to be a Pakistani spy. The clandestine operation, orchestrated through social media, led to the transmission of sensitive Indian intelligence to Pakistan. The arrest of a Pakistani spy in Bharuch by CID Crime, based on Army Intelligence input, has sparked a multi-agency operation. The operation was conducted including Gujarat Police, CID Crime, and Muzaffarpur Police.

How Pakistani agents were spying?

The arrest of Praveen Mishra in Bharuch shed light on a covert operation orchestrated by Pakistani intelligence agents. Mishra, lured by a fake Facebook profile created by ISI operative Sonal Garg, unwittingly shared classified information. The discovery of WhatsApp conversations and audio calls on Mishra's confiscated mobile phone exposed the depth of the espionage network.

Impression turned betrayal

Investigations revealed that Mishra embarked on his espionage journey to impress his girlfriend, unaware of her true allegiance to Pakistani intelligence. Targeted through social media, Mishra, an engineer working in Ankleshwar GIDC, Gujarat, fell victim to honeytrap tactics employed by ISI agents.

Honey-trapping in Pakistan

The revelation underscores a broader trend of honey-trapping orchestrated by Pakistani intelligence, targeting individuals associated with defense establishments. Mishra's case highlights vulnerabilities within defense circles, with ISI operatives attempting to extract sensitive information, including details on DRDO's drone projects.

CID Crime's crackdown on Mishra is part of a wider investigation into Pakistani espionage activities in India. With more than 20 individuals reportedly ensnared in ISI honey traps, authorities are intensifying efforts to safeguard national security and prevent further breaches.
