A deeply unsettling incident occurred on Sunday in Maharashtra’s Pardi area, where a 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped. The unidentified suspect is accused of committing this crime in front of the victim’s younger sister, who is just five years old. Reports suggest that the perpetrator attempted to bribe the younger girl with Rs 20 to keep quiet about the assault.

According to the sources, the tragic event took place around 4 PM while the two sisters were home alone, as their parents, who work as daily wage laborers, were at work. The severity of the situation was revealed when the older sister recounted the abuse to her parents upon their return. The family immediately went to the Pardi police station, where a medical examination confirmed the assault, with blood stains found on the girl’s undergarments.

Family background and relocation

The family, originally from Gondia, had recently moved back to Nagpur just three months ago after the father was involved in an accident. Prior to their return, they had lived in Gondia for a period. This incident has devastated the family, who were hoping for a fresh start in Nagpur.

Ongoing investigation

According to the information provided by the younger sister, the suspect is a Marathi-speaking man with a ‘tilak’ on his forehead. The suspect seemed to have knowledge of the family’s routine, as he was aware that the girls were alone during the day. He had entered the sisters’ rented home under the pretense of checking if their parents were present, and fled when the older sister raised an alarm.

The police are diligently searching for the suspect, with Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal closely monitoring the case.
