New Delhi: In a disturbing incident early Tuesday morning, an SUV allegedly driven by Saurabh Gaikwad, son of former corporator and NCP leader Bandu Gaikwad, collided with a tempo-truck in Pune, leaving two people injured.
The crash occurred around 5 am near an empty road, with shocking footage capturing the moment of impact. Sources indicate that Saurabh Gaikwad was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, intensifying concerns over drunk-driving incidents in the region.
This incident follows another recent tragedy in Mumbai, where Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah from the Eknath Shinde faction, fatally struck a woman riding pillion on a scooter in Worli. Shah, reportedly intoxicated after visiting two bars, was apprehended last week following a three-day pursuit by law enforcement.
In both cases, the involvement of individuals connected to prominent political figures has sparked public outcry and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of drunk-driving laws. Authorities are under pressure to ensure accountability and justice for the victims, amid growing concerns over the prevalence of such incidents involving influential personalities.
The incident has raised concerns on the video and sparked discussion among the users. One user wrote, "That's why they were silent in Porsche car accident. It states importance for a common man in their life. It's good, you show it."
Another user commented, " Shows they don't care about common citizens."
Another user wrote, " Clearly hit and run case..forget about seriousness at least show some courtesy #police."
