On Thursday, Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), visited the official residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Varsha, and extended an invitation to him. The invitation was for the upcoming event on June 24, which commemorates the 75th anniversary of Maratha Mandir, an organization presided over by Pawar.

In the late evening, Gautam Adani, an industrialist, paid a visit to the residence of the NCP chief, leading to speculation within political circles.

The initial encounter between Pawar and Shinde, which occurred after Shinde assumed the position of chief minister, lasted approximately thirty minutes.

Following their meeting, Pawar took to Twitter and mentioned that he extended an invitation to Shinde for a program commemorating the 75th anniversary of Maratha Mandir. This charitable institution was established in 1945 by the late Shri GG Gawde, also known as Babasaheb Gawde, who identified the importance of creating a robust institution to educate and raise awareness about people’s rights.

As stated on its website, the founders of the institution named it Maratha Mandir, combining “Maratha” to represent individuals who consider Maharashtra as their home and “Mandir” to symbolize the essence of purity in human existence.

In his tweet, Pawar further mentioned that he engaged in a discussion about the challenges faced by actors and technicians in the Marathi film and theatre industry. He requested Shinde to arrange a meeting to address their concerns. However, Shinde contradicted this and tweeted that his meeting with Pawar was merely an exchange of greetings.

According to sources close to Pawar, a delegation from Singapore expressed their desire to hold a discussion with Adani. As a result, both Pawar and Adani met at the former’s residence on Thursday night.

Pawar stood out as one of the few opposition leaders who expressed opposition to the Joint Parliamentary Committee’s report on Adani, conducted by the research firm Hindenburg. Instead, Pawar advocated for a committee appointed by the Supreme Court to investigate the matter.
