In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police uncovered a prostitution racket operating in the Munirka area, rescuing five women aged between 24 and 36 years. A 45-year-old woman, identified as the mastermind, has been arrested for her role as a pimp.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Surender Chaudhary, stated that the police apprehended the accused, identified as Diya Bala, during a sting operation. An undercover officer posing as a client paid ₹2,000 to the accused, which was recovered during the raid. Acting on a tip-off, the police team raided a house located at 249G in Munirka Village, where they found five women held by the racket.

Modus operandi unveiled

The racket came to light following a confidential input about illegal activities in the area. Investigators used decoy customers to confirm the operation. On November 26, a team raided a residence behind Rama Bazaar in Munirka Village and caught the accused red-handed while transacting with the decoy.

All five rescued women and the arrested woman are reported to be from West Bengal. Authorities are now investigating the extent of the network and identifying others potentially involved in the operation.

Police statement

"The raid was conducted after gathering intelligence and using undercover operations. We successfully rescued five women and arrested the accused on-site. Efforts are underway to identify other individuals connected to this racket," said a police official.

This development highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking and illegal prostitution rackets in urban areas. Authorities are intensifying their efforts to combat such crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice.
