Seven minor tribal girls from Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi became victims of the heinous act of four men who exploited a mobile app called 'Magic App' to lure them. The girls were reportedly raped by these men namely Brajesh Prajapati, Rahul Prajapati, Sandeep Prajapati, and Lavkush Prajapati.

How did these men trick innocent girls?

The four accused used 'Magic App' to impersonate women teachers from girls' college and trapped the girls in their vicious clutch under the false pretext of offering scholarships. They convinced the girls to meet them and to bring along the necessary documents required for getting a scholarship. The app that they used helped them in changing their voice from men to female due to which the innocent girls easily believed in the conversation, agreeing to meet them with the documents.

To allay suspicions, the men would call the younger ST girls to an abandoned location and, in advance, would say that a boy would be sent to pick them up on a bike and bring them to the teacher's meeting spot. On reaching the place, they abducted the girls and took them to a secluded place where they raped them.

When did the police know about the matter?

The matter came to light only after one of the victims gathered the courage to report the brutality inflicted upon her. She reported the incident to the concerned authorities which led to the arrest of the four accused.

SIT formed

Taking the seriousness of the case into consideration, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has formed a Special Investigating Team to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The SIT is composed of nine members including a woman Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who has been tasked with completing the investigation within seven days and delivering its findings.

Widespread condemnation

The incident of such grave nature has triggered widespread outrage with netizens demanding stringent punishment for those involved in the heinous act. From political leaders to the public, individuals are coming forward to raise concerns about deteriorating conditions of women's safety in the state. Leaders like Kamal Nath and Jitu Patwari have criticized the government's handling of the situation, stressing firm action and swift response without further delay in matters related to such atrocities.
