Seven killed, many injured after truck collides with Tata Magic in Haryana's Jind

New Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light from Haryana's Jind, where a severe accident claimed the lives of eight pilgrims, including three women, and left eight others critically injured. The tragic collision occurred late Monday night when a truck crashed into a Tata Magic vehicle carrying the pilgrims.

The accident happened around 12:30 AM as fifteen pilgrims from Marchhedi village in Kurukshetra were traveling to the Gogamedi Shrine in Rajasthan. The truck, speeding aggressively, struck the Tata Magic from behind near Biradhana village. The force of the collision caused the Tata Magic to overturn and fall into a roadside ditch. The impact left the passengers trapped inside the overturned vehicle, creating a scene of chaos and distress.

Darkness delays rescue efforts

Efforts to assist the victims were initially hindered by darkness, making it difficult for passersby to reach the scene. The Narwana police arrived at the site and, with the help of local residents, managed to extract the injured from the wreckage. The survivors were transported to the Civil Hospital in Narwana, where doctors confirmed the deaths of seven individuals on the spot. One additional victim succumbed to their injuries while being treated at Agroha Medical College.

The deceased in the tragic accident have been identified as follows: Rukmini, aged 50; Kamini, aged 35; Tejpal, aged 55; Suresh, aged 50; Paramjeet, aged 50; and Mukti, aged 50. One victim remains unidentified. The police have seized the truck and launched an investigation into the incident.

Chief Minister’s Condolences

Chief Minister Nayab Saini expressed his profound sorrow regarding the accident. "The news of the tragic accident on the Hisar-Chandigarh National Highway, involving pilgrims from Kurukshetra, is deeply distressing. May God grant peace to the departed souls. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wish for the swift recovery of the injured," Saini said.
