Seven Assembly seats across six states will hold bypolls to fill vacant seats on September 5. It is anticipated that it will be the first contests between BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the opposition INDIA bloc ahead of several Assembly polls that are scheduled to happen later this year.

According to the information, the by-elections on the five seats were necessitated after the deaths of the sitting MLAs, while the two other MLAs resigned from their post.

The seats of Dumri in Jharkhand, Puthuppally in Kerala, Boxanagar and Dhanpur in Tripura, Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, and Dhupguri in West Bengal will go under polls on Tuesday, September 5. The results for the same will be out on September 8.

Interestingly, these bypolls will not only fill the vacant seats in the specific states, but will also give a sneak peek for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. INDIA bloc which is a group of opposition parties of 28 non-Bharatiya Janata Party parties who came together to defeat the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government in the next year’s general elections. The outcome of these bypolls is expected to give a glimpse of the strength of INDIA bloc as well as a hint of public perception about its possibility and effectiveness.
